Objective

The client was looking for an inexpensive item that they could promote and drive traffic to 150 Oregon and SW Washington locations.  The items needed to be received within their Texas warehouse for kitting within 60 days of Branding receiving the PO.

Strategy & Execution

The strategy was to manufacture a small key chain cow bell tying in with petroleum, vehicles and a sponsorship they had with a local MLS team, Timbers.  As with some promotions there were unexpected events - Phillips needed to place the order on hold due to budget review.  The promotion and budget were again approved with only 28 days to custom manufacture the cow bells and deliver to Texas for kitting.  As the timing was too short, we needed 30 days, Phillips 66 thought the promotions would end and they would have to throw away the marketing collateral they had already purchased.

The solution was that we could produce the order of 150,000 cow bells through our Guangzhou China office and deliver into Branding’s warehouse for kitting and distribution.  With the importance of this order one of our China employees traveled to the factory and managed the process to completion.

Results

The result is that within 30 days we started production, revised and received Phillip 66 – Timbers and MLS approvals, produced and air freighted 150,000 cow bells, received, staged, kitted and distributed to 150 location making this one of Phillips 66 most successful promotions while saving them thousands of dollars in wasted marketing collateral.
